John Tiarks John Gerhard Tiarks (5 April 1903 – 2 January 1974〔''Obituary Bishop Tiarks'', The Times, 5 January 1974; pg. 12; Issue 58980; col G〕) was an Anglican bishop whose ecclesiastical career spanned forty five years 〔“Who was Who” 1897–2007 London, A & C Black, 2007 ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕 in the mid twentieth century. Educated at Westminster School and Trinity College, Cambridge and ordained in 1927,〔''Crockford's Clerical Directory 1975-76'' London: Oxford University Press, 1976 ISBN 0-19-200008-X〕 he began his career with a Curacy at Christ Church Southport after which he was Vicar of Norris Green. He then held further incumbencies in Widnes and St Helens before becoming Provost of Bradford Cathedral.
